The Somerset LDC are calling for nominations of membership.
With rapid changes affecting the contracting and delivery of NHS dental services at present, it is imperative that the profession is properly represented at a local level. It is hoped that you will consider offering your nomination in this important work.
The LDC meets three to four times a year in the evening and there may be additional meetings such as liaison meetings with the NHS England Area Team Bristol, North Somerset, Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSSG) or disciplinary committee meetings held as required. There is currently no remuneration associated with being a LDC Committee member and all meeting are held outside normal working hours.
Membership is open to all Somerset GDPs on the National Dental Performers List. Any Dentist wishing to stand must be proposed and seconded by similarly qualified Dentist’s practicing within the same geographical area of Somerset.
The Somerset Local Dental Committee is divided into four constituencies:
Taunton Deane, Somerset Coast, South Somerset and Mendip
Each constituency has a minimum of two representatives who are elected for a period of three years on a rolling basis. There is no limit on the number of terms of office that each member may serve and therefore retiring members may seek re-election at the end of their three-year term.
In the event of more than one nomination within each constituency, then an election will be held amongst the Dentists working within that particular area of Somerset and overseen by an independent scrutineer.
Please use the nomination form below, and email or post your completed nomination to Andre Louw, Secretary, Somerset LDC, by 1 September 2020 at 17.00. Please also include an electoral address of no more that one-hundred and fifty words (which may include your Curriculum Vitae (CV)) with your nomination form.
If you have any further queries then please do not hesitate to get in contact with the Somerset LDC.
